What would be a good video card for my computer?

hi guys, i have a dell dimension 4600 desktop from like 2001/2002 and im considering getting a new video card for it but don't know which one to choose. im afraid ill have compatibility issues and such. i also want one thats mid-priced and sort of a new model, not too old b/c it might not perform too well. PLZ HELP!|||im assuming you have

Dell Dimension 4600 (Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, XP Home)

with that

i would personally go with an ATI card

because you get more "bang for the buck" as they say

and i would go with

either the 2600 , or the 3870

both of which are amazing cards

i've owned them both recently

now i own the 3870x2

i would suggest the 3870 right away

because its a lot better

but im not sure if you'd really be getting your moneys worth

due to the fact that you have a P4

so you might be limited by your CPU

and if you havn't already

upgrade to 1.5gb or 2gb of ram as well, possibly faster memory if you think needed
