Help choosing a video card for new mid level gaming desktop?

i am building a mid level budget gaming computer...play games like half-life 2 , far cry..halo..so on..anyways.i am debating between two video cards right now. the XFX 8600GT or the BFG 7950GT OC . .which is better for the FPS games?.. the 7950gt oc has faster hardware but the 8600gt has the newer technology and dx10. ..wouldnt like to spend more than 160 on video card.. so far my system is AMD athlon 3800+ 2.2ghz ... 2gig corsair platinum dualchannel ddr2.... seagate barracuda 250gb hdd....also. i am having trouble finding a good reliable mobo....any suggestions?|||Don't upgrade to Vista until it has at least 1 Service Pack release. Many games were in development before the release of Vista and will use DX9 still. I'm looking at a system on newegg.com now with 4gb of ram, an 8600gts, and an AMD X2 6000 for $700. It's always so much better to build it yourself.

Really nice card too
