What is a good video gaming video card for a desktop?

up to 300 dollars to spend. want the best quality thats up to date.|||A good card to get GIGABYTE GV-R585OC-1GD Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ ATI Eyefinity on newegg.com for $250

What Is The Default Video Card/Display Driver For A Dell Inspiron 570 Desktop?

I'm really into online games and was wondering if Call of Duty 5 would run with default drivers on a Dell Inspiron 570 Desktop.

System Specs Of The Desktop: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, 250 GB Hard Drive, 2 years old.|||The integrated graphics device is the ATI Radeon HD 4200.

If you want to know if your system can run that game, use this, it'll scan your system and tell you if it does or does not meet the games requirements.

http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/cy…

You'll find that you need to install a discrete graphics card in order to play it.

256MB Nvidia GeForce 6600GT/ATI Radeon 1600XT or better

http://digitalbattle.com/2008/09/25/call…

Those cards are antiques, but modern, cheap cards such as the GeForce GT 430 or Radeon HD 6450 will let you play and will also work with your systems stock power supply.|||That computer has integrated HD4200 graphics which are not designed for gaming at all. There's no way it would be able to handle COD 5

On the plus side, there's a PCI-Ex16 slot in it so you could buy a decent graphics card and stick it in there and gaming would be much better. You'd definitely need to upgrade the crappy 300W power supply that's in it if you decided to buy a decent graphics card though.

Video card for HP Pavilion p6133f Desktop PC?

im going out to buy a new video card for my HP Pavilion p6133f Desktop PC tomorow but last time i got one i couldent connect it to my power supply im wondering if i could get a decent video card for gaming and supports shader 3.0 that would work with my computer|||I googled up and that computer only got a 250W and no way you can get a good graphic card let alone mid-range graphic card.

Where can I find a video/graphics card for a Hp Pavilion 542x desktop?

I bought the Sims Three, but then got a new (used) computer. Installed the game, but now can't play it because I have no graphics card. I need to know where I can buy one and about how much it will cost me. On the case it says I need a "128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0"

Help, please.|||The problem with pre-built desktops from companies like HP (which, once a long time ago, used to be known for quality) is that they build those things en masse, the cheapest way possible. Which leaves little room for expansion.

From the specs I pulled online, it seems your computer only has a PCI slot (not to be confused with the newer PCI-express). Unfortunately, I don't know of many PCI graphics cards that are decent. Sims 3 is a very demanding game, I know, I'm addicted to it.

My computer is pretty impressive, but it still struggles with the game. And my graphics card was $200 and uses the very latest in technology.

PCI cards may not cut it, period. PCI is very old technology and so are the graphics cards that run on it. For the price, none of them are worth it, considering similarly priced PCI-e cards are exponentially better. Also, none of the PCI cards I've seen support pixel shader 2.0.

I'm sorry, but even if you managed to get a PCI card that meets the requirements, the game will probably look very ugly and still won't run smoothly. (the game, according to the box, could run on my laptop, but it lagged so badly it wasn't even worth playing) Not to mention your Celeron processor is less powerful than that of my latop.

I really wish I had better news for you... Sims 3 is an awesome game.

And this is why I never bother with pre-built computers anymore. If at all possible, build your own. Or get a friend who knows a lot about computers to come and help you build one. After all, a decent rig that you build yourself will have many options for expansion, whereas the pre-built ones pretty much screw you over.|||Hi there my name is avimanyu... I got my computer re assembled that is bought my computer with the parts i require... You will find the Graphic Card in any Computer shop where they assemble computers and they will provide you with different types of Graphic Card... Also when finding out about the graphic card... How do upgrade my video card to play call of duty mw3 for my compaq presario desktop pc?

Which video card should I upgrade to?

here are the listed video card options:

256 mb nvidia grforce 8600 gt,

Put card in.

Put the metal back in.

Put the screw back in.

Connect whatever extra power the cards will need (if any).

Close side panel.

Reconnect power cable.

To be honest your computer is old, really old, upgrading the graphics card won't do anything (especially if you plan to put in a fossil like 8600gt or x1950 in). It just won't run mw3....

Can I change the graphics/video card for the Sony Vaio VGC-JS155J/P all in one desktop?

What does a tv tuner video card for my desktop do?

I have a big screen tv and want to be able to use it as a computer monitor. I have been looking on ebay for a video card and have run across some that say the have a tv tuner. What do these cards do? I want to put one in my desktop. Does this mean I will be able to watch cable tv on my computer or what. What does a tv tuner card do?|||Yes, with a TV Tuner card, you could watch TV on your PC & save video (with help of software).

Video Card / Desktop PC Compatibility Question.?

I'm currently looking to replace my desktop computer. I already have the monitor and other external accessories, so I figure my best bet is to go with a bundle from Future Shop / Best Buy.

Now, I need a bit of help regarding video card compatibility, without too much technological mumbo-jumbo, because I'm not too talented with that stuff.

Here's a desktop that's in my price-range (actually, even a bit over my price range):

HP Pavilion AMD Phenom X4 9550 Quad-Core 2.2GHz Computer (A6650F) ($749.99)

(Link: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10114689&catid=)

Now, I plan on playing World of Warcraft: WotLK pretty extensively, enough to warrant having a high powered, quiet, and durable card to run it at full video settings at a high resolution.

Here's a video card I'm considering upgrading to:

BFG Geforce 8600 GTS 256MB PCIe Video Card ($143.99)

(Link: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10098942&catid=)

Now I have 2 questions:

1) Can this video card be attached to the motherboard of this computer without a problem? This is my main problem, I haven't ever really learned about motherboard compatibility, and I don't want to make a mistake in purchasing this card.

2) Do you believe that buying this card is a good investment, or would the one built into the PC do an excellent job for WotLK since it's based on a game from 2004?

If you can answer even 1 of these questions, I'd be very appreciative! Thanks a lot.|||Hi, firstly, the standard graphics on that pc (i used the cat. number to find the pc) are integrated - which will not run any newer games (inc. WoW). The card you have picked out is compatible, however it's not a particullarly good card for gaming. You really want to be looking at an nvidia 9600gt minimum to make it a worthwhile investment. If necessary, i would strongly suggest getting a computer with a cheaper processor (barely anything utilizes even 2 cores let alone 4) unless you plan on doing any heavy video editing and put the saved money into a better graphics card - which is THE most important feature where gaming is concerned.

As long as the processor is a dual core, preferably an intel one clocked over 2.4Ghz, it will be more than enough for a good long while.

Hope that helps|||I cant actually open the link but I would go with a PCI-E video card. The motherboards video card is actually weaker then a PCi-E equivalent in most cases, although i would recommend a 9600gt or 9800 gtx

It is a nice card, reasonably powerful, good price, good all round.

AS for your motherboard, i haven't heard of a reasonable desktop on the market then can't support a PCI-E video Card you should be fine for that

And go somewhere else for the video card like newegg or tigerdirect|||Ok

Well you first problem is none of the links work =D

Second problem is we can't tell you unless we know what motherboard you have, and what power supply you have.

I am guessing that your computer is about 2-3 years old so I think the card should fit in the slot, but yo might need a special slot for it to work ( that slot comes off your power supply.

Also I think you should upgrade and get the 9800 GTX

Its a way better card for the same price.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

you can email me at wdlax11@gmail.com

just send me what motherboard you have and I will tell you.

From what I assume it should work if your motherboard has a PCIe slot

Can i remove this from my desktop to instal a Video card???

I have a Hp S7613W Slimline desktop PC and i want to upgrade the video card. it has a PCI expansion slot, for upgrade use, but it has a phone line connection (Modem connection) in the only PCI slot. It also has WiFi and a seprate Ethernet connection as well so i dont need the dial up connection. Can i remove that from the PCI slot so that i can upgrade my video with a PCI video card, or is that supposed to be left in the PCI slot. I need to know if there is a safe way or any way at all for that to be removed so that i can upgrade my Video. Any help would be great. thanks.|||Yes you can remove that card to install a graphic card. Make sure you get a low profile card for that slimline PC.|||Yes you can.|||This is from the manual

As a matter of fact it mentions the modem card so this is expected.

Removing and Replacing a PCI Card

You can also replace the modem card in the PCI card slot with another modem card or a new PCI card. The modem card is a telephone modem circuit board that fits into a PCI card slot.

Before You Begin

Observe the following requirements before removing and replacing the component:

IMPORTANT: Due to the small PC size, you can only install a small, low-profile PCI card of the same approximate size of the modem card. HP recommends that you install a card with power consumption of 5 watts or less.

Not all low-profile cards will fit into the PCI slot. Some external connectors, especially connectors located at the top of the card, may not fit properly into the back panel.

This procedure requires a Phillips screwdriver.

Removing a PCI Card

1 Prepare the PC and remove the PC cover. Complete the “Opening the PC” procedures on page 2.

2 Inside the PC, locate the PCI card slot on the motherboard.

3 Make a note of any internal cables attached to the card, and then disconnect them.

4 Remove the screw on the modem card bracket holder (A) on the outside of the frame. Remove the bracket holder.

5 Hold the card at the top and carefully pull the card straight out of the slot (B).

16 Upgrading and Servicing Guide

Replacing a PCI Card

You can replace the modem card with a new modem card or another PCI card in the PCI card slot:

1 Complete the procedures to remove the modem card. See “Removing a PCI Card” on page 16.

2 Align the edge of the add-in card with the slot on the PC and gently but firmly press the card straight down into the card slot (A). The whole connector should be seated properly in the card slot.

3 Attach the bracket holder with the screw to secure the card (B).

4 Connect any internal cables attached to the card.

5 Complete the procedures to close the PC. See “Closing the PC” on page 5.

6 Install any software drivers— supplied by the card manufacturer if you are installing another PCI card— or as required.

NOTE: If the new card or device isn’t working, read the card manufacturer’s installation instructions, and recheck all connections, including those to the card, power supply, keyboard, and monitor.|||You can take the modem out if you do not need it but :

1. You may void your warranty

2. The video card needs to be small enough to fit in the case.

Is HP PAVILION A1720N DESKTOP VIDEO CARD INTEGRATED?

Can someone please tell me if this HP DESKTOP has an integrated video card or not? The graphics that this desktop has is Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Video graphics Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 950

It should be upgradeable to any PCIe x 16 video card|||yes you do have integrated video... when a brand computer is shipped it will have video on it one way or the other... either integrated or it will have a video card, so don't worry, you will be able to plug a monitor in ;)

now integrated video is really bad... I mean its enough to turn on the computer, go online, watch youtube even, but pretty much say no to any kind of modern gaming...

if it's onboard video its really easy to upgrade, just buy a new video card and put it into the computer (nothing to remove as your vcard slot will be empty as your probably is) intall the drivers off the CD or internet (internet recommended as they are newer) and you are off gaming!!!

if it has a video card installed already, the process is very similar, its just you will have to remove your old card and put the new one in place... but that's a 5 second task, so no worries...|||technology-http://mtechlaptop.com/

I'm gonna buy a new one but I'm not sure what 1 would be good for it. I'm looking forward to being able to play Crysis, Cod4, Farcry 2. Games like those but on a lowest budget possible.|||Sorry about being off-topic, but I sincerely hope you'll seriously consider getting a better video card. Where can i get a video card for a laptop?

They dont have them at best buy, office depot, radio shack. I have tried google but i only come up for desktop pc. any sites-places anyone?|||As long as your GPU isn't integrated into your motherboard, you need to order the part from your system manufacturer. If you replace it with an OEM model you'll have problems since the GPU isn't specifically licensed /certified for use with your system - neither are the drivers. This is a widespread and common mistake by many users across the globe, and many others who sell parts take advantage of that fact.

Go to your system manufacturer's website, and download the manual for your system - all manuals have a parts list breakdown with the manufacturer's part number. Find the number for your GPU, then check the Support site again for parts ordering information, then enter your GPU's part number to find out if it is still available as an FRU (Field Replaceable Unit).

If you've got an HP notebook the process is simple. Getting the Part # is easy from HP's Partsurfer: http://www.partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi…

some cards need at least direct x version 8.1 to work

some cards will not work with the newest versions of the driver . Reboot the computer. On startup tap the keys f8 or f5 to go into "safe mode".

remove the driver in the device manager ( uninstall) reboot and you will be back to where you were with the old one.

Is a multiple-output video card REQUIRED for running extended desktop?

I already have a single-output card. Can I just simply hog another PCI slot with another single-output video card and run a multiple-monitor desktop that way? Or is this multiple-output card type that I keep seeing everywhere required to do such a thing?|||you can use another single output card, but you must connect the two cards together with SLI so basically they act like one, you have to have SLI compatible cards though

Video card upgrade for Dell Dimension E510?

I have a Dell Dimension E510 desktop with a Pentium D 3.2GHz processor and would like to upgrade my video card. I like the ATI Radeon HD 4670 card but I'm not sure if that will work in my computer. I know my computer has a 305 Watt PSU according to Dell but I've read that Dell rates them pretty low and most video card manufacturers rate their power pretty high. If this won't work what are some other good graphics cards that could?|||A Radeon 4670 should fit in that power envelop, as would a Radeon 5570/6570 (about the same graphic power). I wouldn't go beyond that as older power supplies were often a bit short on 12V current, and your Pentium D will hold you back from using higher powered video cards effectively.

AMD's recommend power supply for all those cards is 400W. However, AMD is notoriously conservative when recommending power supplies. nVidia claims 300W will run their GT 440, which uses 20 more watts, so there's some disagreement on what is needed.|||Low wattage PSU's and GPU's Guide ...

Can i have a new video card for my dell inspiron 580 DESKTOP pc?

Yes you can, you need a PCIe card, but you need to check if it requires an external power connection as the PSU on the Dell is not capable of this.

There are several websites that compare ATI and NVidia branded VGA cards who supply the bulk of all VGA cards, and you should have a look and perhaps work out what you need to VGA card to do for you before buying the one with the prettiest picture on the box!

You may want to consider an upgrade of the PSU anyway, most Dell (and many other well known brands) are pretty poor when it comes to the PSU having sufficient power for anything other than the standard hardware they install.|||Sure. Any PCI-express based (the current standard) video card will fit. If you buy a video card that requires its own power connector, you'll have to upgrade the power supply in that computer too.

More simply, the most powerful cards you can put in that computer without a power supply upgrade are the GeForce GT 240 or the Radeon HD 4670 or 5670|||Yes you can. It should have a pcie slot so your good there. Better go to the dell chat and confirm this. The only problem is the power supply is weak. It won't be able to handle any really good graphics card. I would get a new power supply so you can get something pretty good. If not I would just go for something like a 4650.|||sure ! where do i send it? lol yes it can take a diff, card

I use Logitech Pro 9000 and it lags every time I record something on that computer and I have a 37" flat screen so what would be the best for me? What is the most current versatile video card for gaming?

My Intel card doesn't cut it. I have many games I can't play. Like Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 2, Brothers in Arms, FEAR, and Panzers just to name a few. I have a Desktop Pent.4 3.06 Ghz with 512mb memory I plan to upgrade to 1024mb.|||First: The intel chipset is known to have compatibility issues as you have found out and the Intel 915 or Intel 945/950 are pretty awful (won't run or runs so slow it is useless). So, if you want things to be compatible you want Nvidia or ATI as they have a much better success rate.

Second: You have to figure out what graphics slot you have in your machine: Is it AGP or PCI-express. AGP is older and would limit your upgrade.

Third: Look at your Power supply. If it doesn't have enough juice those Nvidia 8800's are going to give you a lot of grief. They are powerful cards but I wouldn't even look at one without a 500-600watt power supply (and 300-400watt power supplies are common on P4's)

If you have AGP I would look at an Nvidia 7600gs or ATI x1650. There are better AGP cards but they get very expensive very fast.

If you have PCI express AND a big power supply, the Nvidia 8800 series is the most powerful video card out there right now. But expensive.

Personally I would strongly suggest you look at an ATI 3850 video card. Less power hungry than the Nvidia 8800's. Less expensive than them too, starting at $179. Plus lots of gaming power (more than the comparably priced 8600gtx and way more than older ATI cards).

Also consider that the fastest video cards are going to process video data faster than your Pentium 4 can keep up with so spending huge amounts of money isn't going to help as much as if you had a faster system.|||the most bang for the buck..... http://www.newegg.com/product/product.as…|||The Geforce 8800 card series. Do I need to buy a new video card for a game on this computer?

I used to play a lot of games on my laptop and now I have a brand new hp desktop, and whenever I tried to play my games, it would say the video hardware wasn't good enough. I don't know much about video cards and I don't have any more money to buy one, is there any way I can play them without buying anything?|||It sounds likely that you're using the integrated video on this new desktop machine. If this HP machine has a video card installed, there are two different places you could theoretically plug in your monitor to the back of the machine. You would want to be plugged into the one that's horizontal, not vertical (when the case is in an upright position).

If there's only one connection on the back of the machine, then it is likely that you'd have to add a video card (particularly if the plug is vertical, as that would be motherboard built-in video, which is usually sub-par). Do you know the model number for the Dell?|||FIRST COMMENT! :D|||No not really, you need to upgrade your video card to play new games, especially if you are using integrated video.

Whats the best video card for "Warhammer Online" on a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop on a tight budget?

Gotta know the right size, slots and all the juicy details. |||Ouch, no video card slot for expansion. The best you can do is use a PCI video card. Also, in the games min specs, the nVidia 6200 won't fly, so keep away from that one. Heres a couple that will work:

Is it possible to run two different video cards parallel for 2 different monitors and do the extended desktop?

is it possible to run two different video cards paralell for 2 different monitors and do the extended desktop

im thinking about buying another graphics card to run another monitor|||Only if you have XP or Win7. Vista can't run two separate cards only the same card twice or more for SLI/Xfire support. Modern GPUs usually have two slots on them for multi monitor support. That might be something to look into. They are at all price ranges now.|||Yes you can do that, but if it's two different video cards, then you won't be able to link the two together via SLI/Crossover. I would recommend getting at least the same series, or you're going to run into driver control issues.

I need a new Video Card for my Desktop. One that will work in it!?

I have a HP Pavilion a819n Desktop PC. I need a new video card because this one is simply outdated as well as this computer. But I cant afford a new computer and i already have put a GB of RAM in this thing so it runs smoothly, it just has horrible frame rate. I am most likely going to play Diablo 3 on this computer as well. So Can anyone recommend a Video Card THAT THIS COMPUTER CAN USE!!! That will run World of Warcraft a lot better. I just want better than 5FPS at the lowest setting possible lol. Thanks guys.|||Dude, you pc is ancient. You will not be able to run Diablo 3, haha. Dude you probably have a hard time running diablo 2 and that came out in the late 90's or something. You only have pci slots and that narrows it down to a handful of ancient cards they probably aren't selling anymore unlees you go to ebay(even then??). I think EVGA has a Geforce 9400 on newegg for 70 dollars. It's your best option for gaming.

Actually you know what you should do? You should get two of the powercolor 4350's and crossfire them and see how that works. That'd be pretty cool to see how those would work in an ancient computer. It'd probably work terribly actually, your mobo wouldn't support crossfire, so nevermind. go with 9400 EVGA

What kind of video card can I put in a IBM desktop?

My mom purchased a system from a company here that was getting rid of their older systems. It's an IBM desktop (the flat ones that you put the monitor on top of) and all the parts are integrated into the board. It's a Pentium 4, so it's a decent processor, but the video card or chip set isn't compatible with most of the games my daughter wants to play on it. I was told that she's going to need a low profile video card and the GeForce PCI 5200 didn't work in it, as the metal "backing" was too long. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can do for it? Is there a specific video card for systems like this or am I just out of luck?|||You better double check on the processor! Just because it says pentium 4 doesnt mean its fast! It could be 7 years old! I doubt very much that the PC she got is worth tryin to upgrade.|||seriously

What's a good video card for a 280w psu?

Here's the 280w desktop

http://www.computer-show.com/commerce/catalog/product.jsp?product_id=3015&czuid=1296091096044

I'm trying to find a video card that is good for playing world of Warcraft.

Thank you|||hi mate

theres not many cards that will run with a 280w power supply however some entry level cards like the radeon HD5450 and geforce 8400gs should be ok..... these dont require any additional power via pci-express connectors and can draw their power from the pci-express x16 bus

in regards to world of warcraft this isnt as demanding as other games and you should be able to run it at low detail with the above cards..... but dont expect to run it any higher than this......

another problem is the size of your case...... this limits the size of the card you can use.... however the above cards can be purchased in "low profile" form factor...... these are basically much smaller than standard size cards,,, and have a bracket thats one third smaller than standard cards

heres two cards that i would recommend taking into consideration your 280w psu and small form factor case

1) XFX ATI Radeon HD 5450 512MB DDR2 PCI-Express Graphics Card ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component… ) .....this is a decent card that will run world of warcraft at low to medium detail depending on the resolution.....

2) Arianet GeForce GF210 512MB DDR2 PCI-Express Graphics Card ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component… ) ... a entry level nvidia card thats a capable performer and should also run world of warcraft... again depending on the resolution

i hope this helps, any problems let me know

good luck mate !

Looking for a Video Card for my PC?

I want to buy a new video card for my PC mainly for gaming. I don't know much about Video Cards so don't know for which one to go for. Every time a find a good one I find a better one I really don't know if the would really work on my PC. I'm using a Intel Desktop Board D191GgC Pentium 4. 2.67Ghz. 1.43GB RAM. PCI Express x16. Which video card, preferably Nvidia, would be the best for this computer. Thanks|||PCIx is the current platform, you need to know you power supply output also.

your question is quite ambiguous as you don't mention what you want your vid card to be capable of. your price range can vary from $100~$600.

so if you have a specific game in mind or interest like HD video editing, 3D modeling or just web browsing. you should edit or re submit your question after you fill in the blanks.

yes there is a "better" card every hour but better on what terms? if a $49 card plays solitaire and that's all you do a $600 card isn't necessarily better is it?|||For general purpose gaming... how about the PNY GeForce 8600 GT? Can i use an integrated video and a second video card for extended desktop monitors or do i need a dual head ?

Typically the moment you plugin the external card, the onboard video is disabled. Hence you end up needing two cards.

If you have an AGP system, you may have difficulty mixing/matching it with a PCI card (secondary display). If you have PCI Express, you may have better luck.

Dual-head cards maybe a better option.|||With an AGP system the video card will disable the onboard chipset.

With a PCI-e system I am not so sure.

However, I would recommend the dual head card because:

Onboard video tends to be cheap and crummy chips with little to no hardware acceleration. The GPU on the video card is going to be much better.

With different chipsets you will need two video drivers running at the same time. This is verboten under Vista and a bad idea under XP. You have no guarantee that the two drivers will play nicely with each other. A dual head card will eliminate this.

Dual head cards are the same price, or fractionally more than a single head card.|||wat u say?

Can you recommend a video card for dual VGA output on an oldish XP desktop?

My church is upgrading to a better presentation system that on the computer needs one output for the projectors (slides), and another for the operator's monitor (editing/ presenting interface).

The computers we have at hand are old-ish XP desktops. Neither offered accelerated graphics with PowerPoint, and I think someone is certain that their current graphics are integrated.

Furthermore, they may not have the proper slots for newer graphics cards (saying it's called PCIe) and apparently most new ones would require a greater power supply than those on ours.

We're on a tight budget, but any recommendation would be appreciated.

What is a good video card for installing on my motherboard for adding another monitor to my desktop?

My Dell Inspiron Slim desktop 531s has only one monitor outpur on it's motherboard. I am shopping for a video card to put into one of the empty slots on my motherboard so I can have a dual monitor setup using software like multimon, displayfusion, or similar. I like having the extra real estate to view pages as I usally have more than one browser open at once.

I am seeing many different kinds of video cards ranging in price from a few dollars all the way up to several hundred. I am not a "Gamer" as of yet, but dont rule it out in the future. What is a good video card, check that, what is the best video card that I should buy for around $50 or so? Please advise. I do like the cards that have a processor on them,,,I dont know why, they just look cool . Also, I use 20 inch lcd monitors That come standard with dell computers. Keep in mind you need to buy a "low profile" or "half-height" video card because you got one of those slim cases that cannot fit a full-height normal video card.

For your particular machine, the nVidia 9500GT is probably your best bet. This one has two DVI outputs (for connecting to two monitors) and is available in half-height form with the right mounting brackets for your 531s: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Video Card Upgrade options for Dell Dimension 4700 Desktop?

Looking to update my old 4700 to sail me through another year before making a bigger purchase this X-mas. I have a Nvidia GeForce 6800 256 mg card now and want to go to something better for under $100, plus i'll be adding two 1GB sticks of RAM to replace my stock RAM. Figure this will give me more life before i feel compelled to drop big cash on a modern system. Any help for video card suggestions?|||Your problem is that the Dimension 4700 ships with a factory 305W power supply, which isn't strong enough to run midrange cards like a GeForce 9800GT and Radeon 4770 (those require 400W while the Radeon 4850 and GTS 250 require 450W minimum).

Making matters worse, the Dimension 4700 psu is a proprietary BTX mount, so the standard ATX power supplies you can get for $40 won't fit properly. You have to spend $80 for a Dell-specific replacement like these:

http://www.supernotebook.com/power-suppl…

http://www.pcpower.com/products/power_su…

That's too expensive. So to upgrade within your budget you've gotta drop down the graphics card power rankings a bit. The most powerful cards you can run without a psu upgrade are:

#1 - Radeon 5670

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

#2 - GeForce GT240

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Both are in-between the GeForce 9600GT and 9800GT in performance, but the 5670 is slightly faster and supports DX11.

Video card for emachines?

I have an emachines desktop that I bought in late 06 it's a Tsomething, don't remember the exact numbers. I am trying to find a good video card, I bought one a geforce 256mb but after only a week it blew. what would be a good video card for this type of computer?|||You would have to check if it uses PCI- Express x16 (most common), AGP (x2,4,8, older computers) or PCI- Express x1. If none of those are available, then you could go to a PCI (not very good, limited transfer rate). I would check on the web site to see the tech specs of your computer to see which one is available.

What external video cards are good for older desktops?

I have a compaq presario SR1303WM that I bought in 2005. I have also however upgraded to WIndows 7 ultimate. Now is there a video card thats external that I can buy or should I just get a new desktop?|||There is no such thing as an external video card for desktops. You either replace the internal video card (and power supply if required) or buy a new computer.

Your Presario has the older AGP slot, which makes upgrading a little more expensive but still doable.

Why are you upgrading the graphics card? To play games, to support Windows Aero or what? If you're not gaming, there are low-cost cards you can install.

For example, these are decent cards for regular work:

What is a good video card that is easy to install for desktop?

ATI or Nvidea? PCI or AGP? I do have a AGP 8x connector on my computer. Thanks|||They are all fairly easy to install. If you need help just google it. As for the actual card it depends on what you want to do with it. Personally, I hate ATI drivers, they are a pain to keep track of. For that reason I recommend Nvidea. AGP is better than PCI, PCI-Express is better than AGP. Since you have AGP go as far up as you can. If price is an issue the Nvidea 6800 will do fine. My friend ran Dawn of War on it with descent settings even though it is an older card.|||AGP is old hat nowadays, so go for an old Nvidia AGP card.|||You can go for a NVidia FX 5200 128MB AGP graphics card...Its cheaper and value for money.

Also if you are looking for a 256MB graphics card then go for ATI Radeon card.

It will be used for gaming. HD movie watching and recording webcam vids. I use Logitech Pro 9000 and it lags every time I record something on that computer and I have a 37" flat screen so what would be the best for me? I want a kick *** graphics card preferably AMD, And yes I know I have to upgrade my power supply too :p|||Your budget may have been helpful.... Currently AMD holds the fastest graphics card on the market... THE Radon 5970. IF you have around $700 to kill, this thing will kick any game's ***, as well as it's mother's, it's father's, it's brothers, and it's sisters *** all at the same time. This particular model is much faster than the stock base design with plenty of room for overclocking too (hence Black Edition). This card kills the GTX 295.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

But i doubt you have that kind of budget, hardly anyone does, especially in this economy.

This card is more acceptable... this card will still kick the **** out of any game, and will handle blu-ray with ease. The 4870 outperformed the GTX 260 in every way shape, and form. The 4890 competes with the GTX 275. The GTX 275 is still $300, the 4890 is under $200 (almost with the 4870 price-range) Still puts a dent in your budget though:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If the the 4870/90 is still too much for you, the the 4850 has a great performance/budget ratio. Only priced at $120 it still competes with the GTX 260

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Since that other one is out of stock at the moment, and if you can't wait, this one works too

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If the 4850 is still out of your budget range, then consider this one. Not as powerful as the other cards, but still plays games on medium graphics, and does blu-ray fine. No power supply connectors required either.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

I hope I helped. Please email me if you have any other questions.|||I'm unsure of your budget. But as far as AMD goes their newest video cards are the 5000 series.

The 5770 would be a very nice card, priced at $180.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

There's cheaper cards but this one is XFX, one of my favorite brands. This coupled with a 750+ watt power supply would be really nice.

If that's out of your price range, maybe a 4850, priced at $110

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Cheaper, but still a nice video card. Couple this with a 600+ watt power supply.

It really just depends on your price range. If you can afford something better, go for it! Good luck!

Edit: As said above the "Best" card would be the 5970. Priced at $650 about. But I would like to add something in. If you're still using your stock cpu, I would recommend upgrading it along with your video card. This would consist of getting a new motherboard and possibly memory. But at this point your almost making a whole 'nother pc, ha. Just saying getting a 5970 while keeping your old Athlon would create a huge bottleneck. Its a good idea to keep a nice balance between your cpu and gpu.|||37" !!!!

Woh you have a home theater system.

For you only one recommendation.

The AMD ATi 5970 Dual Chip Graphics Card.

ATi 5970 is presently the baddest, fastest, most powerful graphics card on the planet. No one stand in front of it. It gives 45% more performance than the Highest NVIDIA card.

I mentioned this card, seeing the 37" monitor. And to game on that high resolution, you have to get a minimum 5870.

Thanks x|||On the ram is going to be hard to help you on that since i don't know which desktop you have but on the graphics card i recommend getting ati radeon hd 4350 i use it myself and it does the job then again yo can go for another card but is completely up to u.....|||Ich, all sorts of answers, going to http://www.crucial.com/ is right, but it is a horrible time to buy RAM, seeing as how DDR2 just had a 100% price hike, the RAM you could have bought for $20 2 months ago is now $40 T.T

Anyways, Yes, Do use the Crucial.

NOW, we must figure out what you computer can fit in it, look at this pic: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/cooldrive…

Now, open up the computer (try to keep it unplugged when you do this) and check near the back for slots that look like the AGP or the PCI-E (should only be 1 of either, most boards didn't have 2)

I am guessing that you have an AGP so I'll start with that.

This is the best AGP card sold: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

It uses no 6 pins, so you don't have to check your PSU for that, but it might not be able to the watts it needs still, now go here: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalcul…

Put in your entire system+4670, and compare the number you get out to the number on your PSU's sticker (the large square grey thing in the back, and for watts, not amps or volts)

If the number you got from the calc is less than the number on the PSU, your good, buy the card

Now if it isn't, you have 2 choices, get a new PSU, or cheaper cards=less performance=less watts used

If you want to buy a PSU, good links for it: Tiered List: http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/32… "FuD" Faq: http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/38…

If you want to just ramp down performance, go here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

Now, that is a load of gibberish, right? Well something to make it simpler: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best…

Now, keep going down the hierarchy chart, checking for the GPU on the AGP List, then putting that GPU on the calc with your other things, until you get below the number on your PSU

Now, the same pretty much applies to the PCI-E cards, but with one notable difference, they are half the price usually (YES, I am making you read the part above)

One of the big differences however is the availability of the GT240, which consumes less watts with more power (thank 40nm for that) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

It is a good little card, but if you can't support it... Well, go for the GT220, then HD4550, then G210

Hmmm, just noticed they haven't upgraded the calc for the GT240/20/10... Ok, to get past this, a GT240 uses the same amount of watts a 9500GT (DDR3), if you can run a HD4650 (DDR2), you can run a GT220, and a G210 uses less watts than a HD4550

K, done, nothing left to do, except remind you that Newegg rocks.|||use crucial to find out your ram type and the best video card is up to you since it depends on your budget, a geforce card around the £100 mark should run sims 3 easily.|||first determine the type of ram your computer supports. kingston value rams are very affordable and among the better rams with lifetime warranty.

nvidia 98xx series will be fine. newer nvidia gts/gtx series or ati 4xxx series will be better. just choose whichever fits your budget.|||well.....if ur planning to put in 2 GB ram space.....i suppose u do it by 1 GB & 1GB separate as it provides the best perfomance and then the graphics card.............if ur planning to buy it juz for playin de sim game i suppose u take a look at system requirements of de game....or ...if u wanna use it with others too...i bet something like Geforce will be de best choice abd buy it according to ur budget!@|||The Crucial tool (they can scan your system if you want) on www.crucial.com is an easy way to determine your RAM, as was said by the wise man that proceeded me.

For a video card, I'd go into the $50 - $99 range, like I'm seeing Nvidia Geforce 9500 - 9800 cards running on Tigerdirect. More than $100 and you aren't getting as much bang for each buck (but the performance will be very nice). Lower than $50, and you're probably too low end to run games for long.

MAKE SURE that you have the right 'bus type'. PCI-E is the most common now.

TV Tuner card for desktop?

I want to buy a tv tuner card for my desktop. which one will be good for desktops? PCI or external cards?

I am looking for some cards with wide screen capture(16:9) and dvd quality capturing video and audio, support for both NTSC and PAL. please suggest some very good cards.

currently I have Avermedia USB300 external, not happy with the video and audio capture qualities

any idea about the ATI TV Wonder Elite quality/performance?|||Well, I don't know much about it. External ones need usually USB 2.0, they are more expensive, but they are also said to be better.

I have a Hauppage PCI card, but it works fine for me, although it's far not DVD quality.|||I had an ATI All-In-Wonder (I forget which version) and it did all that you mention above. I kinda miss it, my current video card has better graphics but it was nice having tv on the computer.|||Performance PC's store on ebay has a good selection.|||There is one difference as far as I know between external and internal TV tuner cards : u cannot record if u use a external TV tuner card. If u want to record then go for internal cards. The only problem with internal cards is that every time u want to watch TV u have to switch on the PC (even if u don't use ur PC). Can somebody send me a link to a video card that would allow me to use 2 monitors for my desktop computer?

I have a 19" monitor that has VGA & DVI capabilities.

I have a 15" monitor that has only VGA capabilities.

I want to be able to use both monitors by being able to drag things from my 19" monitor to the 15" monitor.

I was told by a Circuit City firedog expert that I would need to buy 2 video cards at probably $200 each in order to achieve this. I really don't believe it. I think that I can achieve this by buying a video card that has a DVI & VGA connection and then messing with the display options in the control panel.

What kind of video card do I need to use my TV as a monitor and has 3d acceleration graphics for Google earth

I want to use my TV as my monitor.

I also want to buy a 3d acceleration graphics card so I can use google earth.

Do I have to buy 2 separate cards?

One to use the TV as a monitor and a different video card for 3d graphics.

All I know is that my desktop only has a pci slot,no agp.|||This is the card I'm using to watch tv and as a computer monitor .http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||Your TV needs to have a connector like a regular monitor does. Then you can hook up your computer to your TV. Practically every 3d graphics card has what it takes to run Google Earth, you don't need some special high end card to do that. You don't need two cards, just a video card and a TV that can connect to it.

Help with video card for desktop?

I'm trying to get my pc to play Skyrim and when I go to the "Can You Run It?" website I pass every requirement except for the video card. Here's what it says:

Minimum: DirectX 9 compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM (NOTE: This requirement is NOT yet confirmed by Bethesda - NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT & ATI Radeon X1800. Please be advised this may change soon).

You Have: ATI RADEON 9200

So what is a good video card I could buy that is a good value. Also, could you recommend a site that guides the switch for a Sony Vaio. Thanks for the help!|||Well if your computer is running a ATI 9200, that means that it is an AGP slot motherboard... Truthfully I wouldn't waste my money on a AGP card... The best you can get though, is a 4670 HIS card... Your whole computer is going to be the problem as your graphics along with old CPU and ram are just going to be overwhelmed by any new games you throw at them...

A good cheap upgrade would be a i3 2120, a z68 motherboard, along with a 4Gb kit of DDR3 1600, then get something like a 6770 with a 500Watt PSU...|||I would suggest atleast 4GB DDR3 RAM, GTX 550 GRAPHICS CARD.. to run that game.|||rush to your nearest computer hardware shop and purchase new Video card|||Hi steve

i have seen this question so many times it would appear this, new game is more about a more high performance video card than anything so i would suggest as big as you can afford would be the real answer. 1-2 gb ram to be honest because as these games get more memory hungary then you will want to play them.

but please remember this is fine with a desktop where changing a video card is not a problem. but a laptop is another issue altogether different where the whole thing will need to be just sold and a new one bought.

as good as a sony vaio is it will need replacing as it will not have the graphics to deal with some of these games sorry.

you are at the mercy of these games with a laptop that is why a desktop is the best answer to gaming.

so if it is a choice then it is a desktop if you want the best computer to do games on.

But I thought, maybe you could something better, or cheaper...

Oh, and also, a problem, I found when "googling" about those things... I don't know if I have PCI Express slot and AGP slot

Any useful information would be gratefully appreciated.|||You have an AGP slot which means that no matter what you get, it's going to be bloody expensive. The best AGP card on the market is the ATi Radeon HD 4670 but it costs over $60.

Do i need a video card for desktop computers?

I heard that some laptops are bad for gaming because they will need a video card replacement or something. Do desktop computers need video cards to play games like the sims 3 and flight simulators too?|||The $400 computer wouldn't matter. I found a Nvidia 9500 video card for a computer for like $400 and it runs most games perfectly.

You need videocard in order to get new graphics, in some cases, you need a new motherboard.|||It depends...if you buy a $400 computer, than most likely yes. Cheap computers are built for office work, not gaming.|||That depends on your motherboard....

But usually yes you do need a a Video card..

I have 2 in what they call Crossfire ( so i can play games really fast with no lag)|||Today's up to date desktops can handle alot of games on low settings without a graphics card. To play say the Sims 3 I really think a graphics card would be needed.

But you don't need to get an expensive one, there are loads of older ones out there on eBay that will work fine. As long as your not wanting the best graphics ever.

Should i get ram or video card for this?

i have a desktop pc and its running vista home premium. i have 1 gig of ram but no video card(because the guy i got it from took it out). it still lets me play mmorpg's ya know online games... but it lags sometimes... so should i buy more ram or a video card first..i can only buy one right now.|||I guess that depends on how much money you want to put into a video card and what your system is sporting now.

If you're running a P4 or a dual core, don't waste any money on it. If you want to play games, you want core2dual, core2quad or one of the I7 or I5's.

Based on your system not, a good video card may require a larger power supply - OK he had one in there, but are you going to be satisfied with one of those cards?

On what kind of ram... well one way to check is to pull out a stick and read what it says. Another way is to run Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and another way is to go here and enter in the system that you have: http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configur…

or course if its a home built computer, you would go by the motherboard model and you can type that into Google as such: ram upgrade __________ (enter motherboard brand and model number) and you will find a number of sites that will want to sell you ram.

Hope this helps.|||Video Card

Presumably one that's affordable|||Ok, the 5770 is not a good choice. You wouldn't even be able to install that onto your computer. You're on a single core 2.7GHz so the 5770 would be a waste. Any video card in the $50 range is going to be more than in enough. The 9800GT for $50 is a good choice, but even that might be too much for your computer. For the 9800GT, you need around 350-400w and a 6-pin power connector. If you don't have a 6-pin power connector and have a low power psu, I'd get a Radeon video card in the $25-40 range that doesn't require a 6-pin connector.

I'm not sure which exact card would be the best for you since I don't have enough info, but even the 4550, would play the Sims 3 decently.|||you could spend under £100 and get a decent card, but youl never be happy with it... i would go for nothing less than the RADEON 5770..... this is a good card, quite large (not sure if your case is big or small) however i played sims three on this and it was smooth as hell! The video card went out on my daughters eMachine T6216 desktop computer. Which Video card do I need to replace it and where exactly is it and how hard is it to replace it? Thanks for any help I can get!|||emachine T6216 has on board graphics card, meaning your graphics card is on your motherboard. Therefore you cant take out the graphics card. You should consider taking it to a technician to check it out, however that is not necessary. It is may occurred that the GPU just went bad and leave them motherboard still working. But I'm not so sure of that.

Most likely the motherboard in the computer will have atleast one PCI express x16 slot. That is where most new video cards will go. You may consider buying an nVidia 8800GT, 9600GT or 9800GT which are fairly cheap and don't perform bad at all.

Unless you have the same slot on the laptop, that you would have on a desktop you are just wasting your time thinking you will be able to switch them out.|||it will not work. in fact, it would work much worse than the other graphics card. the memory in the video card specs refers to the frame buffer thats built into the card, not the shared system memory. and thats if you could even remove an IGP...it's a very tiny chip built into the motherboard to give you basic 3d capability. any GPU you can buy today would give you better performance than that. and if you don't have enough RAM to meet the minimum requirements, then don't play the game. with those requirements it's not a question of good graphics or smooth framerates. in fact it's not even a question of bad graphics or average framerates. it's a question of being able to run the game without crashing your computer. if you don't have enough power in any regard (but if it's a dual core, and the game requires a 3.2GHz single core, then you're fine) then just simply don't play it.

Video card for laptop?

ok i have an about 4 year old hp laptop, its a real tank, very powerful and fast, just lacks in battery power and video card...64 mb nvidia geforce 440 go. but anyways, im looking to play like wow bc and elder scrolls oblivian, and i would like to have a better video card. please tell me what you know about the following and what you think would be best for my laptop:

1. a pcmcia video card or some sort of pcmcia video card adapter

2. an external video card, which would be good because i could use on say a desktop

3. or try to get into my laptop and add one which is probably near impossible :)

thanks for your help and let me know if you have tried any of thses and how they work|||i would see if you could replace the card inside cant be that hard.|||the VGA ports on the external card is so you can still use the laptop for docking ports. without it you would not be able to dock your computer. the best bet is whatever you feel most comfortable with. PCMCIA and external bot run fine but you still need to see what the speeds are. also, be careful, some of those cards are for expansion purpose, not internal use, you would use them to add multiple external monitors. your option number 3 would be a bad idea unless you where some kind of super engineers. most Laptops have built in video, so the card is not removable, it is fused with the board, so I would steer clear of that idea.

thanx in advance|||The Mac Pro from Apple is a good choice:

It has a quad-core xeon processor and a fast graphics card, and it can even run Windows if you want it to. If you don't want to spend that much money I recommend going with the 24" iMac:

Have a video card with two slots for external monitors and a s-video, in XP how can I mirror the desktop?

rather than expand the desktop|||There should be some software that came with it that should give you all the options you are looking for. if the software was not included with the card I would recommend looking at the manufactures web site.|||When you initially plug in both monitors the default setting would be mirrored unless you expand the desktop.

What would be a good Video card upgrage for my H-P 7500 Desktop?

I don't do gaming only a little Solitaire . .

Thanks . . .|||Built-in video is enough for that.. otherwise a Radeon 4350 or 5450 is nice for general work and watching movies.|||onboard video card is enough.

512 mb video card upgrade for hp desktop pavilion a296n?

I need to upgrade it for better performance on games. right now i have an nvidia geforce fx 5200. any upgrades for it?|||Boy, any new card you buy now will be a lot better than the FX 5200 chipset. Just have a look at the Graphics card hierarchy chart here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/Best…

You'll need an AGP card, since that's the graphics slot the HP Pavilion a296n has. This card is pretty much the best AGP card you can get:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

You need to check the specs for your power supply though, 'cos your power supply may not meet the power requirements of this card:

[Open the case and read the label on the PSU. Note down the wattage and ' +12V ' rail amperage.]

System Requirements:

* AGP based PC is required with one 4X/8X AGP slot available on the motherboard.

* 1GB or greater system memory for better performance.

[[[[[[[[* 450Watt or greater power supply with 30Amps on 12 volt with 2x4 power connector recommended.]]]]]

* Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to http://ati.amd.com/certifiedPSU for a list of Certified products

* Installation software requires CD-ROM drive.

* DVD playback requires DVD driver

* Blu-ray/HD DVD playback requires Blu-ray/HD-DVD drive and playback software.

Good Video Card for my Desktop (e-Machine T5010)?

I have an e-Machine T5010, it originally came with an integrated graphics processor (Intel GMA 900). 2.93GHz CPU, 533MHz FSB, 512 MB of DDR SDRAM, & a 300W power Supply. http://www.emachines.com/support/product…

I opened it and found that it has 2 PCI slots and a PCI-express (1x).

I want to use my computer as a home media center to watch and record Cable TV. I will be buying a TV tuner card and suspect that I will need a good video card to go along with it. I will also be upgrading the RAM, would 2GB be sufficient? (it can support up to 4GB)

What Specs should my new video card have? Any good suggestions?|||>suspect that I will need a good video card to go along with it.

Any dedicated card will do it fine. If you want your home theatre PC to be silent, you should look for a video card that is passively cooled (i.e. No fan)

Since your PC is going to be used to play videos only, video card specifications aren't really going to be a concern.

I suggest:

$35 Radeon HD 4350, PCI, passively cooled, 300w power requirement

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

>I will also be upgrading the RAM, would 2GB be sufficient?

If it's running Windows XP, 2 GB is sufficient.

However DDR RAM is expensive and extremely hard to find, as it's obsolete and not being produced anymore.

I don't recommend getting more than 1 GB total, as it will cost you a fortune.|||Have a look at the http://www.newegg.com/Product/… if you want a PCI card.

|||ATI Radeon HD4350 comes to my mind when I think about HTPC. It's passively cooled and it runs extremely well for its price. Newegg.com should have it.|||The 300 watt psu kind of limits you as to what card you can use. Go to nvidia.com it lists all of their cards and the min specs for each one. Radeon/ati has a similar site for their cards but it isn't set up as well and doesn't list the min specs. Off the top of my head about the best that you are going to be able to run is about a nvidia 9500 gt or one of the lower end gt 200 series like a 210 or 220. I'm assuming that you are running windows XP as you only have 512 mb of ram so 2g would be a vast improvement but when it comes to ram "more is faster".

Where can I purchase a video card for my notebook?

Whenever I search for video cards, all I find are cards for desktop PCs. I can't find anywhere that sells video cards for notebook computers. I searched nvidia's website and I know that they manufacture video cards for notebooks, but I want to buy just the card, not an entire notebook computer that has the card already installed. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.|||Hate to tell you this but once you purchase a laptop you are pretty much stuck with the video controller that came with the system.

Usually companies like Nvidia, ATI,etc. make chips that are soldered onto the system board which prevents you from upgrading the component. This is done for space considerations, power consumption reasons, and temperature concerns.

About the only thing you can upgrade on a laptop are the memory and hard drive.|||go for acnt

http://www.acnt.com/_e/gdept/19/Video_Cards.htm|||Visit: www.pricewatch.com and there you will get lots of deals|||Ebay has just about everything.|||You got a chance of slim and none!|||NO SUCH THING. A laptop video card is something that's soldered onto the laptop motherboard itself. You can't pluck it and solder a different one in there. If you're playing games, let's just hope your laptop came with at least an Nvidia or ATI graphics chip.
