2.79 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM|||You can use any PCI graphics card. Nvidia will perform loads better, but ATI is cheaper.

Check out www.Newegg.com for the best prices. Make sure it is PCI not PCIe interface!

have fun|||Search newegg.com for the right video card, any decent card will cost $50-150|||heres the sims minimum requirements,

http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq

so anything better than what they state as a minimum|||your processor will be the most problem, sims 3 has alot going on at once and it will choke your p4.

as for the video card, here is a good pci card, in the long run though i recommend upgrading to an LGA 775 chipset, that will give you PCI EXPRESS which is loads faster than pci. pci does not give you many workable options for video cards, as it is obsolete. any decent pci video card will cost you at least 200 dollars such as a 3850 which i dont recommend getting a pci card. it is dated so it is more expensive than pci express cards. the 3850 is 70 dollars for pci express type and is FASTER than the pci version.

go to newegg.com and search in computer parts, go to motherboards, intel motherboards, socket 775, and click on a cheap 60 dollar motherboard, go to specifications, if it has a front side bus of 1066 mhz or above then you can get a dual core cpu, which you really need at this point. make sure it is an intel cpu that goes with an intel board, it will say processors supported, and then search that. your processor is choking you!

as for video cards when you get your new motherboard and DDR2 RAM i would get a pci express card say an ATI HD 4830 video card, it would max sims 3 out with 80 fps paired with a dual core cpu.
