I have a junky laptop, and just got a new desktop. I obviously like the desktop but I'd like to be able to use all this new power in my laptop around the house. I'd like to do this without wires but I'm wondering if you can do it at all. I'm not just talking like hook up the processor to the laptop's display, i mean pretty much control the desktop, through the laptop. Possible? If so, how?|||no sorry|||Trying to do anything graphical remotely (on the desktop from your laptop) would be foolish. As was stated the time it takes to send the picture to your laptop would negate any speed the desktop has over the laptop. However for certain types of work where you are processing lots of information but not displaying much information it would work just fine.
You can control the desktop using either remote desktop (built into the professional versions of windows) or using a program like Ultra VNC. Either one would allow you to view your desktop and manipulate files. A full tutorial would take a long time to type, just do some searching for remote desktop or Ultra VNC on google.
Again nothing graphical, but for some office type work it really is not bad.|||Hi. The laptop will only work to its potential but you can use it to access the desktop's music, photos, documents etc. by setting up the folders on the desktop to 'Share". Right click on the desktop folder you wish to share and select 'Properties". Look for the Share properties and select 'Share this folder". It is usually found under the "Sharing and Security" option.|||Unfortunatly it isn't as easy as that, What you would need to do is set up a network and even then all you could do is control the files on that computer. So the technology isn't up to speed yet however it is getting there.|||I am possitive it is possible. I think it is called remote access, I will have to ask, and will keep you posted on how it's done.|||No, you cannot. The delay in the signal of doing it over the network would negate any benefits you'd receive, anyway.|||No, unfortunately. We aren't that far into the future pal.|||Simple answer, NO !!! Good try though, you get a A for effort.|||LMAO!!!!!!
