I have an HP Pentium a1019h desktop that I've had for 5 years now. It's been great and I have upgraded to a 500gb hard drive and 2gb memory and going to 4gb soon. I need a new video card that is 3D capable for my newer games and I want to do some other upgrades on my PC like processor and what not. I have posted a link below with all my computer's specs. I would like to get a Core Duo or better, but someone had told me I will need to upgrade my motherboard as well. Please take a look and give me some suggestions. Please keep in mind I also use this pc for music downloading and school work. Thanks!

In order to do so, you *would* need a new motherboard and therefor new RAM, new CPU, new GPU (your current MB doesn't even appear to have an AGP slot, much less a PCI E slot let alone a PCI E 2.0 slot), new PSU and of course it would be a good idea to get a SATA hard drive... So basically, what you're looking at is an entirely new computer.

Low level card: Will play most games but on lower graphics settings.

Mid Level card: Will play pretty much any game with medium graphics

High Grade Card: Will beast mode any game, very pricey though.

and yes you would need a new motherboard to upgrade to a core duo. I would however recommend an AMD CPU rather than an Intel CPU they are cheaper and perform better on average. but this area really depends on price. newegg.com has some good combo deals of motherboards and cpu's together.
