If you were buying a desktop pc for video editing primarily what kind of specs would you be looking for?

I was thinking about getting a laptop but figure that for the price I would pay for a decent laptop I could get a BEAST of a PC and use it primarily for video editing and production..

What kind of specs should I be looking for,,

Im thinking lots of RAM and as fast a processor as possible..

what are the best types and what is the best video card...|||If you want a beast then you would want the EVGA SR-2 with 2 Xeon 5680 and 12-24GB of ram

And not less then a GTX460|||4 most important things for video editing

Fast CPU

Mega RAM

Top of the line video card

Fast Big Hard drive or consider two big hard drives and RAID0

Your OS being 64 bit instead of 32 bit will play a big role in speed to|||lots of RAM and a fast processor is definitely important, but don't forget massive amounts of hard disk space. HD video is HUGE. You don't need the best video card, but a pretty good video card isn't a bad idea.|||Minimum Intel i5 processor and 4 GB ram with good graphics card...

PC is best for work, I'll suggest not to go for Laptop for heavy work...|||Best computer: http://www.apple.com/macpro/

Nothing comes close imo.|||2.8 ghz processor

4gb ram

1tb harddrive

And a decent graphics card
